"Oneric Overtones" is a new body of work that focuses on gesture, automatism, and old brain spontaneity. I document the chemicals doing their work on the paper using studio lights and a digital camera. The result is the last time you might ever see Dektol, fix and stop bath on real photographic paper. Surface tension, surface texture, and the body of light form these images. My work is inspired by the ideas and people whose creativity flourished between the two Great Wars, Dada and Surrealism.
Re-purposing exposed photographic paper and using darkroom chemistry, I explore the automatic reactions as they appear over minutes, sometimes days and even years.
